Nike has revealed two new colorways of its sustainability-focused Space Hippie 01 silhouette, each of which nods to the sneaker’s green credentials. The two sneakers continue the “This Is Trash” design and production ethos of Space Hippie, honoring the recycled materials and details used throughout.
The first colorway of the sneaker arrives with a “Carbon Green” upper, which is offset by brighter green detailing and a green tint on the midsole. The second sneaker continues the green influence, with hits of “Electric Green” appearing on the Swoosh and laces, contrasting against the neutral upper and hits off red.
The Space Hippie 01 is constructed from a “Space Waste Yarn” upper, containing about 90% recycled polyester from recycled plastic bottles, T-shirts and yarn scraps, while its Crater Foam midsole also incorporates recycled elements. Lastly, the shoe features an insole produced from ZoomX foam scraps.
Take a look at the two colorways in the gallery above, and expect both the “Carbon Green” and “Electric Green” designs to hit the Nike web store on August 18.
In other footwear news, Nike also recently dressed the Free Trail Run in sustainable materials.
